Airline Alliances

As the second major airline allinace to be formed (1999), Oneworld has 15 member airlines (note that Aer Lingus is expected to Join Oneworld in the near future) covering over 1,000 destinations in 155 countries.

SkyTeam was founded in 2000, and currently has 20 member airlines reaching more than 1,050 destinations in 177 countries. SkyTeam carries more than 600 million passengers annually, making it the second largest alliance.

Established in 1997, Star Alliance is currently the largest alliance, boasting the most member airlines, daily flights, destinations (over 1,300), and contries flown to by its members (over 190).

Based in China and founded in 2016, the U-FLY Alliance is the first alliance to be formed exclusively by low-cost carriers. This alliance was formed to help small, regional LCCs grow without merging multiple airlines into one, maintaining a local identity in each airline's province in China.

As the latest airline alliance to be formed, the Value Alliance is the world's second alliance to consist solely of low cost carriers, carrying passengers to over 160 destinations in the Asia-Pacific region. Value Alliance is the fourth largest alliance in the world, with member airlines hailing from Philippines, South Korea, Singapore, Australia, Japan, and Thailand.

Focused on Indian Ocean carriers and routes, the Vanilla Alliance was formed in 2015 by it's 5 member airlines. The Vanilla Alliance is the world's smallest alliance, carrying a mere 2.3 million passengers per year, compared to SkyTeam's 665.4 million passengers per year. Serving all of the 'Vanilla Islands', Vanilla's member airlines travel from Seychelles, Mauritius, Madagascar, the Comoros, Reunion, Mayotte, and the Maldives to 89 different destinations.
