Sunwing Airlines (IATA WG, ICAO SWG) was a Canadian leisure carrier based in Toronto, with Toronto Pearson and Montréal–Trudeau as its principal bases alongside seasonal gateways such as Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa and Québec City. Its network was built around sun destinations, combining scheduled and charter flying from Canadian cities to Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, the southern United States and parts of South America, with no long-haul intercontinental service and no membership in a global alliance. The fleet was all-narrowbody Boeing, made up of 737-800s plus a smaller number of 737 MAX 8s. Operations were folded into WestJet in May 2025.

The seats are very tight. Very little leg room.

Vacation starts as soon as you're in the sky

If you're onboard Sunwing, you're almost definitely going somewhere warm and exotic but the treats start once you are in the sky. They're simple but the little things provided onboard really make it a relaxing experience and one to recommend. My flights were not full so there was plenty of space and luggage room. Once in the air, the crew comes around with a mimosa or champagne, followed by a warm cloth to freshen up with. Fancy! As airline meals go, the options here are not great and most of mine went untouched. The atmosphere on board is buzzy with some travelers getting too excited about their hols. The crews are happy to go along with this but they are also pretty strict if someone is going overboard or being too disruptive. Firm but fair!
