South African Express Airways

South African Express Airways (IATA XZ, ICAO EXY) was a state-owned South African regional carrier that operated from 1994 until 2020, when it suspended flying and was later placed into liquidation. Its main hub was O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, with further operations at Cape Town and Durban, feeding domestic routes and regional services to neighbouring countries such as Botswana and Namibia. The fleet centred on Bombardier CRJ200s, CRJ700s and Q400 turboprops, with Embraer 120 Brasilias and Boeing 737-500s flown earlier. It was not a full alliance member, though flights were coordinated with South African Airways.
