  Seat 42K turned out to be one of the best economy spots I’ve had in a long time. It’s an extra-legroom window seat, and the difference that space makes is noticeable the moment you sit down. You can stretch out properly without feeling boxed in, which takes the edge off a long-haul flight straight away. The window placement is ideal, so you’re not craning your neck to look outside, and you still get a full view during climb-out and descent. Because it’s by the exit row, there’s a calmer feel around the seat; you don’t get people brushing past or queuing right beside you. Singapore Airlines’ A380 cabin is well looked after, and that carries through to the seat itself. Good cushioning, a decent recline, and the tray table and screen don’t feel flimsy. The crew were friendly and attentive as usual, and having the extra space meant the meal service never felt cramped. If you like a window seat and want a bit more breathing room without moving up a cabin, 42K is a brilliant choice.
