Monarch Airlines
Monarch Airlines was a British carrier that operated from bases including London Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham, London Luton and Leeds Bradford. It flew short- and medium-haul scheduled and charter services across Europe, the Mediterranean and to Middle Eastern destinations, focusing heavily on leisure and holiday markets. In its final years the fleet was built around the Airbus A320 family, with the Airbus A320 and Airbus A321 forming the backbone alongside a single Boeing 737-800. Monarch belonged to no airline alliance. The company ceased all operations on 2 October 2017, when it entered administration and grounded its aircraft.
