Germanwings

Germanwings was a German low-cost airline, founded in 2002 and wholly owned by Lufthansa, based in Cologne with hubs at Cologne Bonn, Stuttgart, Hamburg, Berlin Tegel, and Munich, plus bases at Hannover and Dortmund. It flew short- and medium-haul routes across Germany and Europe, operating a fleet drawn from the Airbus A320 family, chiefly the Airbus A319 and Airbus A320, alongside the Canadair Regional Jet 900. It belonged to no airline alliance. After ceding its own scheduled flying to sister carrier Eurowings in 2015 and continuing under wet-lease, Germanwings ceased operations in 2020.
