Picking Your Seat on Delta's CRJ-700

Most travelers on this jet are back in the Main Cabin, riding the 2-2 rows from 7 to 17, and the one thing everyone gets here is worth stating up front: there is no middle seat on the entire aircraft — every place is either a window or an aisle. Delta also runs USB-A and AC power at every seat and streaming Wi-Fi throughout, so the real decision is about legroom, recline, and how close you sit to the rear lav. Here's where to aim and where to duck.

The seats worth booking

In the Main Cabin, 12B and 12C are the standouts — exit-row seats with genuine extra legroom, and because row 11 ahead of them can't recline, nobody drops a seatback into your knees. Both rate green in our data, and a traveler in 12C called it better than most for exactly that combination of space and an undisturbed view forward.

In Comfort+ (rows 4–6), row 4 is the pick: 4A through 4D all rate green with bulkhead extra legroom. If you'd rather not sit at the bulkhead, 6A earned a 5/5 for its legroom, with the only gripe being the partition ahead of it.

In First Class (rows 1–3), the solo A column is the quietest real estate on the plane — a single seat with both window and aisle to yourself. 1A is our best-rated First seat, a 36-inch-pitch recliner that a flyer happily gave 4/5 with one caveat noted below. 2A gives you the same solo setup a row back.

The seats to avoid

The whole of Main Cabin row 11 — 11A, 11B, 11C, 11D — is the trap here. None of these recline because the exit door sits directly behind them, and all four rate poorly. One 11A passenger summed it up as not terrible, but not good either.

Farther back, the rear Main Cabin rows hug the lavatory: 16B, 16C, 17B and 17C all rate bad for lav proximity, and 17A/17D pile engine and wing noise on top of it. A 17C review scored it 1/5 and told you to look elsewhere; 17D got the same treatment.

In First Class, 3C is the one to skip — it sits exposed to the aisle where the service cart can clip you, plus the curtain behind row 3 means no true bulkhead at your back. Comfort+ has no genuinely bad seat, which is part of why it's worth paying up for.

The wildcards and trade-off seats

12A and 12D deliver the same exit-row legroom as 12B/C but come with strings: they're over the wing (rows 9–14 have a restricted window view), one may be missing an armrest, and the cushion can feel very firm — extra room, less polish.

First Class row 1 is a comfortable recliner but a bulkhead: 1A, 1C and 1D have no underseat storage, so everything goes overhead for takeoff and landing. 1A specifically requires keeping your window shade up for departure and arrival, which the 4/5 reviewer flagged as the price of admission.

One last note for taller flyers: the CRJ's curved fuselage trims a little shoulder and foot room at the window (A and D) seats, so if you're long-limbed, the aisle side of the same row tends to sit better.
