The call that shapes everything here is how far forward you sit. This is a compact single-aisle jet where the front third holds all the legroom worth paying for, and the last two rows are genuinely rough. Decide early whether you're chasing space (row 10 or 15) or just trying to avoid the back, then work from there.

The seats worth booking

In Delta Comfort+ (premium economy), row 10 is the standout. It's the bulkhead, so you get the extra pitch the cabin is known for plus open floor space in front of your feet — 10A through 10F all rate well. The catch is fixed armrests and no under-seat bag, so keep your carry-on overhead. If you'd rather have a movable armrest, drop back to 11–13, where the aisle seats (11C/D through 13C/D) have the flip-up armrest Delta lists for that block.

In economy, row 15 is the exit row and the best legroom in the Main Cabin — 15A–15F all earn top marks. I'd take an aisle here (15C or 15D) since the window seats sit over the wing with a restricted view, and this is a stretch-your-legs seat, not a scenery seat.

In first class, the whole cabin is a solid domestic recliner at 35–37" pitch. Row 1 (1A–1D) gives you the bulkhead with nobody reclining into your lap; travelers who've sat 1A and 1D call them a solid choice. Just know there's no under-seat stowage up there. If you want a normal footwell and a spot to stash a bag, row 2 or 3 does the job.

The seats to avoid

The back of the Main Cabin is the problem zone. Rows 28 and 29 sit against the aft galley and lavatory, and it shows: 29C and 29D are the worst on the plane — cramped, noisy, and with people queuing beside you the whole flight. 28C, 28D, 29B, and 29E aren't much better. Unless you're first off a tight connection, stay out of the last two rows entirely.

Row 14 in economy is the other trap. It looks like a good forward seat, but it's the row ahead of the exit, so 14A–14F don't recline at all — a real penalty on anything over an hour. A reviewer in 22C and another in 22F both flagged limited recline and lavatory noise back there too, so the mid-aft window and aisle seats around row 22 are worth skipping if you have options.

The wildcards and trade-off seats

First class row 1 is the classic two-sided call: no seatback in your face, but no under-seat bag and a galley/closet area up front. Worth it if you prize the open bulkhead, less so if you like your stuff at your feet.

Anywhere in the window band from roughly row 12 to 18 sits over the wing, so if you booked a window for the view, you'll mostly see metal — fine for sleepers, frustrating for photographers. The Comfort+ windows in 12–13 fall in this stretch.

One more: 15A and 15F give you exit-row legroom but the over-wing view, so treat them as legroom seats, not scenery. And if first class is your target but row 1's quirks bug you, a reviewer in 2D still called it a decent seat despite Delta trimming an inch or two of legroom versus rivals — a fair, unremarkable pick. Every seat here has USB-A, AC power, seatback screens, and Wi-Fi, so amenities won't be your deciding factor — location will.
