Best seats on the Delta Airlines Airbus A220-100 (221)

Delta received these jets as A220-100s after taking over the former Bombardier C Series program, and the wide body of the A220 means passengers can expect a more spacious experience with more room for their elbows and shoulders. On this exact 109-seat, three-cabin layout the standout picks are the exit-row seats in row 15 for genuine extra legroom, and row 10 at the front of Comfort+. The seats to skip are the recline-locked bulkhead-style exit seats in row 14 and the last-row Main Cabin seats in row 29 by the rear lav and galley.

First Class

The First Class cabin runs rows 1-3 in a roomy 2-2 layout with 37" pitch, 20.5" width, and recliner seats with USB-A plus 110/220v power at every seat. Any of these seats deliver the same generous space, so pick by aisle/window preference. The known catch is that 1A, 1B, 1C, and 1D all lack underseat storage at the bulkhead, so your personal item goes in the bin for taxi, takeoff, and landing. Of these, 1D is the weakest: it's rated yellow and has a misaligned window, so a window-lover should choose 1A instead. There's a closet and galley area forward of row 1, which can add some pre-departure foot traffic.

Premium Economy (Comfort+)

Comfort+ occupies rows 10-13 in a 2-3 layout at 33" pitch and 18.6" width, with seatback IFE and USB-A/110/220v power. The clear winners are the entire front row — 10A, 10B, 10C, 10D, and 10E — all rated green with extra legroom thanks to the extra space ahead of the bulkhead. The trade-off is fixed armrests on that row, which slightly narrows the usable seat and means the armrests won't raise. If a raisable armrest matters more to you than stretch-out room, choose a seat in rows 11-13 instead, which keep the same pitch without the bulkhead limitation. Note that rows 13 and up sit over the wing, so the view down begins to disappear here.

Economy (Main Cabin)

Main Cabin spans rows 14-29 in 2-3 layout, 18.6" wide, with 30-32" pitch and 110/220v plus USB-A power.

Best picks: The exit-row seats in row 15 (15A, 15B, 15C, 15D) are the pick of the cabin — all rated green with extra legroom. 16E is also an exit-row seat rated green with extra legroom, though it sits over the wing so the window view is restricted. Be aware 15E does not exist on this aircraft, so the E column skips from 14E to 16E.

Seats to avoid: Row 15's benefit comes at row 14's expense — 14A, 14B, 14C, 14D, and 14E are all rated poor and cannot recline because they front the exit row, and 14A/14E also sit over the wing with limited views. At the very back, 29A, 29B, 29C, 29D, and 29E are all near the rear lavatory and galley, meaning noise, traffic, and limited recline; 29B and 29C are rated bad, the worst in the cabin. The row ahead is little better — 28B and 28C are rated poor — so avoid the last two rows unless you value being close to the aft door. The over-wing band (rows 13-19) has a restricted window view generally, so window-seat travelers who want scenery should aim forward of row 13 or well aft of the wing.

Wi-Fi is available cabin-wide, and every seat on the aircraft has seatback IFE and in-seat power regardless of cabin.

    Extra legroom

Lots of extra legroom at this seat, but you kind of stick out into the aisle when people are boarding
